Alexandre Rago - Wildlife Photographer

I am a Brazilian wildlife photographer, and in nature I found more than a subject — I found a purpose and a new way of seeing the world.

Birds were my first connection to wildlife photography and remain at the heart of much of my work. Their diversity, behavior, and relationship with the environments they inhabit shaped the way I learned to observe nature through a camera. Over time, that perspective expanded to other species and landscapes.

My photography has taken me through different regions of Brazil, from the Atlantic Forest and the Amazon to the Pantanal, Cerrado, and Caatinga, as well as wildlife destinations beyond my home country. Each environment offers a different perspective on the relationship between animals and the places they inhabit.

More than simply capturing an animal, I seek to understand its behavior and portray it as part of its environment — within the landscape, the atmosphere, and the life that surrounds it.

Wildlife photography demands patience, observation, and sensitivity. Each image is the result of time spent in the field, sometimes hours or days, learning to read the environment and waiting for moments to unfold naturally.

I want my photographs to do more than show a species. I want them to transport the viewer into the scene and convey something of the experience of being there, immersed in the wild.

I believe photography can bring people closer to the natural world and, through that connection, encourage a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the ecosystems on which it depends.

Every image I create carries a true story — experienced in the field, without interference or staging.
